Shipping Giants Raceto Speed Up China-Peru Trade With New Route
What’s Happening ?
Shipping companies are rapidly scaling up trade between China and Peru thanks to a newly opened direct sea route to Chancay Port, a deep-water terminal on Peru’s Pacific coast.
COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers has launched a once-monthly break-bulk liner service from Zhangjiagang Port (Suzhou, China) to Chancay.
Why This Matters Strategically?
The Chancay–Shanghai route is cutting sea transit time toaround 23 days, down from over a month for previous, less direct paths.
This is reducing logistics costs by over 20%, making trade more efficient for both Chinese exporters and Peruvian exporters of fruit, minerals, and more.
