French Frigates Seize $142 Million in Drugs in Arabian Sea

What Happened?

Two French Navy frigates operating as part of the Saudi-led Combined Task Force 150 (CTF 150) intercepted multiple vessels in the Arabian Sea and seized a massive haul of illegal narcotics valued at over $142 million.

Over nine separate boarding operations, French crews found and confiscated more than 16 tonnes of crystal methamphetamine and hash from unmarked dhows during routine maritime security patrols.

Why It Matters?

Major Blow to Smugglers: This large seizure disrupts criminal trafficking networks using the Arabian Sea as a transit route for illicit drugs.

Multinational Security Effort: CTF 150 brings together naval forces from many nations to patrol vital sea lanes and deter illegal activities such as drug and weapons trafficking.
